Session prep guide
A few simple choices make a big difference. Here is how to feel ready.
What to wear
- Pick solid colors and simple patterns. They photograph best and keep the focus on you.
- Choose colors that work together, not matching outfits. Think a shared palette, such as creams, greens, and denim.
- Bring layers like a jacket, cardigan, or scarf. They add depth and give us options.
- Avoid big logos and busy graphics, unless that is the point of your shoot.
- Wear what you feel confident and comfortable in. It always shows.
Hair, makeup, and details
- Style your hair the way you normally would, or a little more polished.
- Keep makeup natural, with a touch more than usual since cameras soften things.
- Press or steam your outfit and check for lint or loose threads the day before.
Families and kids
- Schedule around nap and snack times. Happy kids make the best photos.
- Bring a favorite snack or small toy for breaks.
- Keep it playful. Some of the best images come from tickles, twirls, and silly moments.
Maternity
- The best timing is usually 28 to 36 weeks.
- Fitted or flowy pieces that show your shape work well. Bring a partner and kids if you would like them included.
Business and branding
- Bring two or three outfit options that match your brand and your clients.
- Tell me where the photos will be used, such as a website, social media, or print, and I will frame them to fit.
On the day
- Arrive a few minutes early so we can start on time.
- Bring water, and shoes you can walk in if we are shooting outdoors.
- Check the weather. We can adjust the plan, and I am happy to reschedule for storms. See the booking page for details.
After your session
Your edited photos arrive in a private online gallery made just for you. Timelines are on the booking page.
